- STARDOCK LOCO SETUP.TXT
- Stardock Loco 1995 Copyright, A. Alanen
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------
- STARDOCK LOCO may not be distributed in any changed or modified format.
-
- * Support BBS and information at the bottom of the file.
-
- * Make sure to read the PACKING.LST file for info on all the included files
- and executables.
-
- UPDATE: I added a bulletin area to Terran Pete's at the last minute. It
- has not been thoroughly beta tested. Should you experience problems with
- the game, rename or delete BULLETIN.EXE. The game does not require this
- IGM. I only tested this for 3 days, and the rest of the door game has been
- tested for months. I believe that this IGM will work fine, but I want to make
- sure that the game works on your system, and this could be a cure if you have
- problems.
-
-
- * Stardock Loco is a fully functional (when registered) multinode aware,
- expandable door game engine. This game is fun and customizable to a
- BBS as the Sysop can add interesting and new modules to the game, as they
- become available. Current expansion modules are included with this share-
- ware version. (The Fahvrie Colony, and the Asteroid Mission.)
-
- * Expect multiple IGM's from third parties in the future.
-
- Note: While running in local mode, you will notice that you have to sign
- in as you go into parts of the game that are IGM's. The on-line
- player does not have this occur to them. The transitions are seamless.
-
- ----------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- * Recommended hardware: 486 with 8 megs of ram or better.
- I created this package on a 486dx266 with 8 megs of ram running OS/2 Warp
- Connect.
- It was extensively tested on a multinode Wildcat! 4.1 system running on
- a P-133 with 32 megs of ram under Windows 95.
-
- * Stardock Loco supports the following BBS packages:
-
- RemoteAccess, QuickBBS, PC-Board, Maximus, Opus, Wildcat!, WWIV, Spitfire,
- SuperBBS, Telegard, RBBS-PC, TriTel, Gap, and most others.
-
- * Stardock Loco supports baud rates of up to 115,200, and supports both
- FOSSIL based and built-in serial I/O's. It will auto detect either.
-
- * Supports Local Mode, is DesqView aware, runs under Windows 3.1, '95, Dos
- and OS/2.
-
- * Has built in capabilites for the SySop, including chat, and will exit an
- inactive user out of the door after a set inactivity time.
-
- * Supports up to 100 players and is multi-node capable. Has exclusive file
- awareness, and utilizes EMS memory, as well as file swapping.
-
-
- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
- HOW TO GET STARTED:
- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- * Simply unzip Stardock Loco into the directory of your choice.
-
- * Run INSTALL.BAT It will prompt you for changes and default settings
-
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------
- TO RUN AS A DOOR:
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- * To run Stardock Loco as a Door, use the SDLOCO11.EXE in the following
- manner:
-
- [game.exe] [path to DOOR.SYS,EXITINFO,DORINFO1.DEF,CHAIN.TXT,etc]
-
- Example: SDLOCO11 C:\BBS\
-
- Example batch file, for a Wildcat! System:
-
- d:
- cd\doors\sd
- sdloco11 d:\wildcat\wcwork\node%wcnodeid%\
- cd\wildcat
- exit
-
-
-
- Sdloco11.exe also creates an ANSI file of the high scores list after each
- player leaves the game. The name of this file is SD_LIST.ANS. Feel free
- to drop it into your bulletins section of your BBS!
-
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------
- If you have problems, see the help.fil for a custom configuration
- for your system utilizing the custom.cfg file.
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------
- NIGHTLY MAINTAINANCE OF STARDOCK LOCO:
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- Nightly maintenance is automatically done by Stardock Loco when
- the first player of the a new day begins the game. This takes a
- only a few moments. Easy, and no fuss with batch files. The
- game creates a PLAYER.BAK list at this time, in case any problems
- develop during the course of the day.
-
-
- -----------------------------------------------------------------------
- TO RUN IN LOCAL MODE:
- -----------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- * Type in the following at the Command Line:
-
- sdloco11 -L (upper or lower case)
-
-
- See the help.fil for information on IGM's and scripting.
- ----------------------------------------------------------------------
